During the last decade Sigulda has had an increasing population figure. This development has meant an expansion of housing and residential construction. This is why the city’s water supply network has been upgraded with new wells and rehabilitation of existing wells. An increased supply network provides increased security within the water supply together with the fact that the new EU drinking water standard is observed.
Sigulda Water treatment plant has 4 wells which ensure a sufficient quantity of water to the city’s inhabitants. The plant is built with 3 pressure filter tanks of each Ø2100 with a capacity of 9000 m3. The pressure filter tanks are galvanized and the pipelines are produced in stainless steel. It is a single filtering system including a pumping station. A SCADA control system ensures it to be a well functioning and fully automated plant facility.
The pumping plant consists of 6 Basic Grundfos CR 90-3 pumps which allows a pumping amount of 600 m3/h from the waterworks.
The clean water reservoir consists of two clean water tanks with a capacity of each 700 m3. (The two clean water tanks are normally operating together, but it has been prepared that the two tanks can also operate separately if cleaning is required.
The capacity of the plant facility serves both the daily supply as well as the statutory demands for fire fighting
The plant is secured and prepared for the future by the possibility of expansion from the current 120 m3 per tonne up to 160 m3/h. The yearly consumption is 650.000 m3
