A number of different systems and solutions for control, surveillance and collection of data from the water supply plants are available. The choice of solution is not depended on the dimension of the plants, seeing that all solutions are carefully adjusted to each request. But no matter which solution to be selected, automatic control will facilitate the daily operation and service for all plant types. For some plants, it will be sufficient with a digital week timer, if only one back wash is needed during the week, whereas for bigger plants as waterworks and complicated industrial plants, it will be necessary with advanced control systems, regulation and surveillance – a SRO-unit. The control systems can be offered as an integrated part of the total solution and will include both catchment of water from bore wells, filter plants and clean water pumps and reservoir systems for storage of the clean water. All operational data will be filed and these can be studied from a computer. This gives the opportunity for a very throughout and detailed reporting of the different operational factors which can be printed manually as well as automatically. The systems are controlled directly from the computer or PDA via either GPRS on mobile phone or various data and ADSL systems. This ensures that data can be transferred to the requested external users. The SRO-unit handles different types of alarms for the production part, the filtration system, pumping unit besides general system failures. It can be alarms with locking devices on each bore well, signal for level indicators in the bore wells or pressure drop. Moreover, it’s possible to integrate a back-up system for reporting.
