Arinco - milk powder production

By the milk powder producer ARINCO in Videbaek which is a department of Arla Foods amba – one of the most important factors during the production process is to ensure supply of fresh and clean water.

In order to ensure the production, the capacity of the company’s own water supply plant has been increased during the last couple of years – including a bigger filter plant, delivered by Kemic Water Technology.

170 m3 during peak load

The company has three water bore holes placed on the production facility area and in order to ensure the requested amount of water to be filtrated, the existing pressure filter plant of six galvanized tanks, each 8000 litres has been upgraded with two more tanks.

Now the eight pressure filter tanks are dimensioned to filtrate 130 m3 per hour and 170 m3 during peak load periods. The plant is fully automatic and furthermore the basic filtration material akdolit which ph-adjusts the water is added.

The intervals for backwash are managed by the SRO-control system and are carried out when a certain water amount has passed through the filter plant. The backwashed water goes to the cooling tower before it is led into the sewerage system.

Large buffer capacity

Access to large amounts of water 24 hours a day is an important factor for the operation of the company. Among other things break down in one of the five production plants would create a peak load period which is why it was necessary to extend the clean water tanks to a total of 300 m3.

Furthermore, a buffer tank with 100 m3 water in the new silo plant has been established.

The two clean water tanks are normally operating together, but it has been prepared so that if cleaning is required, the two tanks can operate separately.

Detailed documentation

In order to ensure totally clean water throughout the production process, a 150 metre, ø 200 mm stainless steal pipe from the clean water tanks to the new production facility and the 100 m3 buffer tanks was connected.

Two separate out pumping zones with each 2 and 3 pumps will pipe the water into the new production facility, the buffer tank and the rest of the factory.

Moreover, detailed documentation material covering the total plant will avoid errors and ensure correct maintenance. This material describes and documents all components and parts of the plant from the smallest gasket to pumps and tanks.

Problem: Renovation of existing plant and extention of water treatment plants to meet extended capacity in the production.

Solutions: Extension of capacity for cleanwater tanks, pressurefiltre and new pipesystem in stainless steel for new production.

Number of wells: 3

Tank capacity:  130 m³/hr.  High level periods up to 170 m³/hr.

Consumption: approx.  500.000 m³.

Tank capacity: 2 cleanwater tanks  for 100 m³ og 200 m³ and  100 m³ Extra tank for production.
